ABSNC Announces Board Director Election Results

Mt. Laurel, NJ – March 8, 2019—The Accreditation Board for Specialty Nursing Certification (ABSNC) announces results of the 2019 election for a new Board Director.  We are pleased to announce that Amy Grand, MSN, RN of the Board of Certification for Emergency Nursing (BCEN®) has been elected by our membership.   Amy is the Certification Manager for BCEN where she oversees the end-to-end exam development and delivery process for BCEN’s five certification exams - Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN®), Certified Flight Registered Nurse (CFRN®), Certified Pediatric Emergency Nurse (CPEN®), Certified Transport Registered Nurse (CTRN®) and Trauma Certified Registered Nurse (TCRN®).  She was instrumental in the recent ABSNC accreditation of the TCRN program and successful re-accreditation of the CEN, CFRN and CPEN programs.  Prior to joining BCEN, Amy was a Senior Content Developer for Pearson VUE for over 11 years specifically working with the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN®) on the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN and NCLEX-PN).  Amy hopes to bring her passion for specialty nursing certification and support for accreditation of specialty nursing programs to her role as a Board Director.

“The ABSNC organization is blessed with superb volunteer support, to include all my fellow board members,” commented current ABSNC President James Stobinski, PhD, RN, CNOR, CSSM. “However, the dedication of our elected Board Officers is additionally acknowledged as it is essential to the success of our organization as well as our important accreditation work”.

The Board of Directors assume their new roles in July 2019.  ABSNC is the only accrediting body specifically dedicated to nursing certification.  Currently ABSNC accredits nearly 60 certification programs from more than 20 specialty nursing certification organizations. The accreditation standards offered by ABSNC include Examination-Based Certification Programs, Portfolio Assessment Certification Programs, and Assessment-Based Certificate Programs.
