Receives Accreditation of its Certified Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (CMSRN®) Certification

From the Accreditation Board for Specialty Nursing Certification

Mt Laurel, NJ, December 10, 2018—The Accreditation Board for Specialty Nursing Certification (ABSNC), is pleased to announce the Medical-Surgical Nursing Certification Board (MSNCB™) has been granted accreditation for the Certified Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (CMSRN®) certification program.

The Medical-Surgical Nursing Certification Board is a professional organization whose mission is to validate excellence in medical-surgical nursing and care coordination and transition management. MSNCB was founded in 2002 by the Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses (AMSN™) by members who requested a specialty certification created by med-surg nurses for med-surg nurses. The CMSRN certification is the recognized path for medical-surgical nurses to build and demonstrate commitment, confidence, and credibility.  As of November 2018, MSNCB reports more than 31,000 nurses have earned the CMSRN credential.

“MSNCB is ecstatic to receive reaccreditation for the CMSRN certification program,” MSNCB President Antoinette Falker, DNP, RN, GCNS-BC, CMSRN, CBN, said. “The CMSRN is the essential certification for med-surg nurses who practice in all venues from clinicians at the bedside to educators in the classroom. CMSRN certification is the formal recognition of the knowledge, skills, and experience of our exemplary med-surg nurses.”

ABSNC accreditation is a peer-reviewed mechanism that allows nursing certifying organizations to obtain program accreditation by demonstrating compliance with the highest quality standards in the industry. To maintain accreditation, programs must exhibit continuing adherence to the 18 standards set forth.

“ABSNC Accreditation represents a recognized standard in certification testing and indicates that the credential meets or exceed legal and regulatory guidelines,” said Felicia Lembesis, CAE, ABSNC Executive Director.
